Mt. Ogden Golf Course, Ogden Utah, July 4th 2016

Jordan: I am going to preface my review by saying that I have always loved mountain courses, although they usually are quite challenging, for some reason, I just absolutely love them. When we arrived for our tee time we were originally supposed to go out the front, but he let us go out the back with the warning, "It's harder than the front." We decided we wanted to take that challenge. It has been a long time since I have played the back at this course so I was down. This course was in good shape, there were some dry spots, and some rough areas on the green that were on the verge of dying. The greens were fast (as they always are at Mt. Ogden) but I like a quicker green. This is the course where it pays to be accurate, if you try to overpower this one, you will have a rough time and a high score for attempting to challenge this course. If you are accurate though, it isn't a bad course and can be quite enjoyable. And luckily for me, this round was my accurate one (hopefully not only...) This course is also absolutely gorgeous and it is extremely peaceful, being up on the mountainside takes you away from everything so it is quiet, which I suppose could allow you to be alone with your thoughts, which could be terrible, but it was extremely enjoyable this round.
TJ: What can be said about Mt. Ogden that hasn't already been said? This course will challenge your game to the absolute max.I have horrible time when the ball is below my feet, so naturally i'm going to struggle on this course. I really like the scenery and the view, those two things can't be beat. It's also enjoyable when at least one of you is going on a tear, through what should be a hard course. I am not as accurate as I should be so this course had me in some tight positions, as the picture to the left will demonstrate.
The beer I got to try was Jack Wagon Wheat Beer from Shades of Pale Brewing in Salt Lake.
The beer was a decent temperature, coming from a 32 oz glass bottle. It started out like most wheat beers, but ended awfully bitter. It could be the temperature I had it at, however I wasn't overly impressed.
The course, just for it's sheer beauty is a Birdie
The beer, on the other hand, I'm going to have to say Double Bogey
Number 13 from behind the green looking back towards the tee box which is about 350 yards downhill.
The beer I tried for this round was Selkirk Abbey's Chapel. I had seen these bottles around but hadn't tried any until this round. Selkirk Abbey is out of Post Falls, ID. The Chapel is a Belgian witbier. It has a light body to it, and it is extremely refreshing. It was great to drink during the heat of a July day in Utah. The beer had a nice hint of citrus that wasn't overpowering, but it was there. There was also a little bit of spice that gave the slightest hint of root beer.
The Course and the beer score strong with Birdies all around
