Mt. Ogden - Front 9 - Sunday, August 14

Jordan: As we know, I do like mountain courses. The front nine at Mount Ogden is no exception. It is a collection of 9 challenging, beautiful golf holes. Like the back, this course is in great shape. There were a few dead spots, and some marks on the greens, but overall they take good care of this course and it's a treat to play. You definitely still have to be accurate on the front, but there are a few holes that are a little more open leading you to try to squeeze a few extra yards out of that drive, and if you pull or push a few yards off line you aren't punished terribly. If you want a fun, challenging course with fantastic views definitely give this course a try, you can't go wrong with either side. No images of this side, but to see images of the course, check out our back nine review.

The beer I had with this round of golf was Epic Brewing's Session Mountain Ale. A mountain ale at a mountain course seemed to be a solid plan to me. This beer was part created due to a change in Utah'a liquor laws that allows Utah breweries to sell beer that is above 4% ABV directly to the public. This a fantastic change, because it allows Utah residents to buy strong beer that isn't room temperature (liquor stores don't refrigerate the beer.) The mountain ale is a seasonal that rotates, it has a smooth body with hints of vanilla and honey, it slightly crisp but not too hoppy, it finishes sweet with no aftertaste.

The beer and the golf course come in strong with birdies for both.

TJ: Again with the mountain course? I must be a glutton for punishment. This course, especially the front 9, kills you for being inaccurate. Well I must say, I'm not the most accurate golfer in the world. At least if I'm getting killed on the scorecard, which I usually am, I can enjoy the gorgeous view of the Ogden Valley. As you work your way up and down the mountainside it's hard to be upset, no matter how bad the round has been. One of my favorite holes is #2. If you hit it right there is a possibility to be on the green in one, putting for an eagle. I'd like to one day get that eagle.
Overall a great course, whips me every time, but great nonetheless.
Chapel, a witbier ale, from Selkirk Abbey is absolutely phenomenal. Jordan reviewed this beer earlier and he let me sample a bit of it, and I liked it at the time, so I figured a full bottle would go down just fine. Boy I was absolutely dead nuts on. This beer is great. It actually has more flavor as it warms up a bit. Reminds me of a Barq's root beer a little, which is great.

The beer and course both go low for me, which in this sport is a good thing. BIRDIE
